A Smithsonian exhibit is coming to Perry!
A Smithsonian exhibit is coming to Perry this fall! The traveling Smithsonian exhibit, "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music" will be at the Perry Art Center from September 8 through October 20. This exhibit is described online as "(a) journey through the development of Americans' creative expression through music. The beat of the exhibition is the on-going cultural process that made America the birthplace of more music than any place on Earth. The exhibition provides a fascinating, inspiring, and toe-tapping listen to the American story of multi-cultural exchange".
Perry is one of 12 communities in Georgia that will host this exhibit, which is part of the Museum on Main Street (MOMS) program and is brought to you in conjunction with the Georgia Humanities Council, the Smithsonian Institute, the Georgia Council for the Arts, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This is an exciting learning opportunity that includes active participation.
